Mr. Chip SaGomes, Sector Head – Financial Services and Mr. Gregory Hill, Managing Director – ANSA Merchant Bank Limited

The ANSA McAL Group on Tuesday announced promotions at ANSA Merchant Bank, a publicly listed financial institution that is majority owned by the conglomerate: 

• 
  
  Chip Sa Gomes has been promoted from Managing Director of ANSA Merchant Bank Ltd to Sector Head of the group’s Financial Services Sector;
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  Gregory Hill has been promoted from Deputy Managing Director of ANSA Merchant Ltd to Managing Director; and 
  
  
  
  
• 
  
  Nigel Edwards is now the Chief Executive of Tatil Life.

The appointments are effective immediately, ANSA McAL Chairman Emeritus Anthony Sabga said on Tuesday.

In its unaudited financial results for the nine-month period, ending September 30, 2012, ANSA Merchant Bank delivered consolidated earnings per share of $1.40, compared with $1.09 in the same period in 2011. This represents a 28 per cent improvement over the prior period.

In the chairman’s report accompanying the nine-month results, Sabga, who is the chairman of the merchant bank, stated: “Notably, as at the third quarter of 2012, TATIL has produced a 26 per cent better profit-before tax year to date due to a favourable claims experience and Tatil Life produced a net profit due to an improved investment performance. 

“The Bank’s core businesses are growing at historically high levels and its new products lines are showing steady growth.”

ANSA Merchant Bank operates a number of mutual funds, the Tatil life and general insurance companies as well as traditional merchant banking business lines.
