ANSA McAL Group of Companies Chairman Emeritus – Dr Anthony N. Sabga presents a 40 year Long Service Award to his son the Group Chairman and Chief Executive of ANSA McAL Group of Companies – Mr. A. Norman Sabga at the Group’s 2012 Long Service and Group Awards held on Thursday 22nd March, 2012 at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre.

A total of 312 employees with over 8,180 years of collective experience were celebrated on Thursday 22nd March, 2012 at ANSA McAL’s 2012 Long Service and Group Awards. The awards took place at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre and were followed by a poolside cocktail reception. The employees came from all seven ANSA McAL sectors—Automotive, Beverage, Distribution, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Media and Retail and Services.

Additionally, seven employees were presented with awards for top performers as shown by their excellence in execution of their duties, their commitment to getting the people basics right and their ability to build an entrepreneurial culture. In his address, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ANSA McAL Anthony Norman Sabga described both long service award and performers of the year award recipients as translation of the ANSA McAL Group’s commitment to getting the people basic’s right.

“The skills you have acquired and the experience you have gained are valuable contributions not only to us but to our communities and to our building of a better T&T,” Sabga said. He said the steadfastness of the long service award recipients were particularly noteworthy when contrasted with recent trends where it had become fashionable to “job hop”.

“Job hopping is often driven by the desire to gain instant gratification. It is also part of a world where very little is built to endure or created to pass from one generation to the next,” Sabga said. Sabga praised the Group’s 6000 employees for ANSA McAL’s successfully overcoming depressions, recessions, uprisings, two world wars and dramatic social changes.

ANSA McAL has been in business for 130 years. Thursday’s awards celebrated employees who had worked within the group for 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years.
