Cable News Channel 3 (CNC3)

Company Profile

CNC3 was initially launched as a Cable Channel in September 2005 on Channel 3 on the country’s leading Cable Network. The name at inception was “Cable News Channel 3” and its programming consisted mainly of News and Current Affairs programmes. In 2008 Cable News Channel 3, acquired a ‘FREE TO AIR’ licence. This initiative positions the station as a mainstream national broadcaster operating on Channels 12, 14 and 22, with the potential to connect with all 400,000+ households throughout Trinidad and Tobago with its signal extending into Grenada.

In catering to a wider audience, the management repositioned the station to deliver a mixed of News and Entertainment based programmes. This was further refined in November 2009; following the change, CNC3 successfully achieved the status of market leader in Prime Time delivering 11 of the top 20 programmes, by May 2010. (Substantiated by to FLOW AI Study of May 2010).

Today, the station continues its lead in Prime Time, with key shows including a mix of exclusive ‘live’ reality based content such as America’s Got Talent, the X Factor; Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smack Down. The station continues to widen the margin in ratings between itself and its closest competitor.

For the future, the station will continue its focus on programme for success, meticulously expanding its offerings. According to stations Deputy General Manager Nicholas Sabga, “ Despite the economic uncertainty, CNC3 has taken an approach to expand its offerings, in the interest of providing superior content to its viewers in line with market demand”.

• CNC3 Production: Since the launch of the station in November 2005 CNC3 has been producing local content. The quality of its productions stand out amongst the finest in the country, ranging from programmes such as:

The Production Unit is fully equipped with a state of the art Outside Broadcast Unit, which has been producing Live shows as well as advertisements and business features for many of the country’s leading advertisers.

• CNC3 Sports: have over the years covered many Regional and International Cricket Tours and Tournaments to the delight of the national audience. Our Sports News Team has journeyed to the 2006, & 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2008 & 2012 Summer Olympics Games to bring its viewers a unique Caribbean perspective at the games. . The team led by Roger Sant, is seen as the most professional television broadcast team in Trinidad & Tobago.

• CNC3 News & Current Affairs: we have built a strong reputation as a trusted source for news in T&T. The latest market data suggests that more than 275,000 viewers on average tune into the CNC3 7PM News each night – making it one of the most watched shows in T&T. Our nightly News-Team – is led by our anchors, Golda Lee-Bruce, Roger Sant, Sampson Nanton and Francesca Hawkins – all committed to delivering the most comprehensive nightly news hour in local broadcasting.
