The ANSA McAL Group of Companies’ Sports & Family Day 2012: A ‘Global’ Success

 


On Sunday 20th May 2012, the ANSA McAL Group of Companies held it biennial Sports and Family Day. The theme for this year’s event was “Going Global…the ANSA McAL Way,” a tribute to the current span of the Group and a look into what the future may hold for the already internationally renowned conglomerate. Held at the St. Mary’s Grounds, St. Clair, eighteen (18) teams gathered for the festivities.


Prior to the event, each team selected a country which was represented in the popular “Pass By: parade and reflected in the Best Decorated Tent competition.


Here are the winners:
 
‘Pass By’ Parade:

1st place:     Guardian Media Ltd. (Jamaica)
2nd place:    ANSA McAL’s Head Office (Australia)
3rd place:     ABEL Building Solutions (China)


Best Tent Competition:

1st place:    Standard Distributors Ltd. / Bell Furniture (Argentina)
2nd place:   MBM/Crown Industries/Standard Equipment (Japan)
3rd place:    Sissons/Penta Paints Ltd (Lebanon)


Employees, family members and friends also competed on Saturday 19th May 2012 in the Group’s 5K race. The race which began at the TATIL Building, took participants around the Queens Park Savannah and then ended at the St. Mary’s Grounds, St. Clair.


The top male winners of the day were Roland Bartholomew, Paul Martin and Lincoln Marchel. For the women, Judith John Sambrano took the gold, followed by Christine Ragies and Suzan Garcia. The first twenty-five employees who finished the race won points towards their respective Sports Day teams’ overall scores.


At the end of the Sporting weekend the winners were as follows:


Overall Winners:

1st place:    Carib Brewery Ltd. (Brazil)
2nd place:   ANSA Automotive (South Africa)
3rd place:    Standard Distributors Ltd. /Bell Furniture (Argentina)
