ANSA McAL’s “Best of the Best Calypso Competition 2011

The ANSA McAL Group of Companies celebrates 130 years of business in Trinidad & Tobago in 2011. To kick start the year‟s activities the Group will host the “Best of the Best Calypso Competition” on Friday 25th February 2011 from 5.00 p.m. in the Guardian Car Park, which is the original venue of the first competition held almost twenty years ago.

An audition for the “Best of the Best” was held on Saturday 12th February 2011 at Carib‟s Hospitality Suite. Nine finalists were chosen by a judging panel consisting of Mr Earl Patterson, Mr Tansley Thompson and Mr Andre McEachnie.

The chosen finalists, Alicia Williams, Guardian Media Ltd; Don Creese, Carib Brewery Ltd; Hillary Clarke, ABEL; Jason Jackman, Guardian Media Ltd; Keron Mondezie, Abel Building Solutions; Mervyn Wilson „D Observer‟, Carib Brewery Ltd; Michael Robertson, Carib Brewery Ltd; Sergio Acosta, Trinidad Match and Shermaine John, Standard Distributors Ltd will join Valentino Singh and Miguel Marquez, reigning calypso kings of Guardian Media Ltd and Carib Brewery Ltd respectively on the night of the final, where close to twelve thousand dollars in prizes will be up for grabs.

Guest artistes passing through the event include Cassie, Pelf, Patch, Crazy, Oscar B and T&TEC Gayatones.
