ANSA McAL expands in Guyana construction sector

ANSA McAL Trading Limited, a subsidiary of the ANSA McAL Group, has moved to expand its already firm hold in the regional construction industry with the launch of a multi-billion dollar (G$) construction solutions showroom at Beterverwagting, Guyana.

In formally declaring the new venture open recently, ANSA McAL Group Sector Head for Manufacturing, Kelvin Mahabir said: “The development over the past few years signals a new era in the development of the country. Guyana is only seeing the tip of the iceberg; the decision to go ahead with a construction division was taken at the start of 2008.”

He added that Guyana’s construction division would now benefit from the company’s investment of G$5.4 billion over the last five years.

Also speaking at the formal opening was ANSA McAL Trading Managing Director, Beverley Harper, who added: “The company is willing to listen to any idea that builders might have, although the company is known as a Caribbean beverage giant, the launch of the construction showroom is another way of showing that its business is far-reaching and widespread.”

She added the launch was a precursor to possible partnerships with Government and the private sector.
