He is Chairman of the Executive Committee, Compensation Committee and holds directorships on the Boards of ANSA McAL (Barbados) Limited, Carib Brewery (St. Kitts and Nevis) Limited, ANSA McAL (Guyana) Limited, ANSA McAL (US) Inc.,Trinidad Lands Limited and Grenada Breweries Limited. On Friday 23rd October, 2015 the Group Chairman and Chief Executive of the ANSA McAL Group of Companies – Mr. A. Norman Sabga was the recipient of a Doctor of Laws Degree, Honoris Causa, from the University of the West Indies.
Andrew Sabga is the Deputy Chairman for the ANSA McAL Group of Companies. He was the Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Development Company Limited from August 2003 to April 2007. Mr. Sabga has over twenty years of industry experience in the Manufacturing Sector of the Group, having previously held senior managerial positions at Carib Brewery Limited, as well as directorships at Carib Glassworks Ltd, Caribbean Development Co Ltd, Carib Brewery Ltd and Trinidad Match Ltd. He was the former Chairman of Alstons Marketing Co. Ltd., and is currently the Chairman of Carib Brewery Ltd, Grenada Breweries Ltd, Carib Brewery (St Kitts & Nevis) Ltd and Carib Glassworks Ltd. He is a Director of ANSA McAL Limited and was the President of the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce. He holds an MBA, Marketing from the University of Miami and a B.Sc. – B.A. Marketing / Finance from Boston University.
David B. Sabga is Deputy Chairman of ANSA McAL Limited. He is also a member of the Executive Committee. He holds a BA (Economics) from Windsor University, Canada. Mr. Sabga previously held Chairmanships at Standard Equipment and Crown Industries Limited.
Dr. Anthony N. Sabga is the Chairman Emeritus and founder of the ANSA McAL Group of Companies. He is also the Chairman of ANSA Merchant Bank Limited, Chairman of The ANSA McAL Foundation and the Patron of The Anthony N Sabga Caribbean Awards For Excellence. Dr. Sabga has achieved quite a lot. He was awarded the Trinidad and Tobago Chaconia (Gold) Medal in 1998. In October of the same year he was named Master Entrepreneur at the Annual Ernst & Young Entrepreneur-of-the-Year Awards Ceremony and later that month he was the recipient of a Doctor of Laws Degree, Honoris Causa, from the University of the West Indies.
In 2002, Dr. Sabga was recognised as one of Trinidad and Tobagos Icons in the Thinkers, Movers and Shapers Category. In 2004 Dr. Sabga was also honoured by the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies for his Outstanding Contribution to the Caribbean. He also received the Prime Ministers Award for Innovation and Invention, Lifetime Achievement Award (Manufacturing Sector) in 2004. In 2008 Dr. Sabga was inducted into the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce Business Hall of Fame.
Teresa White has extensive experience of strategic human resource management, organisational transformation and change management. She joined the Group’s Parent Board of Directors on June 15th, 2007 as a non-Executive Director and in January 2011 she assumed the executive role of Group HR Director.
In the 10 years prior to this, she successfully led her own independent regional consulting practice and her client base spanned the energy, financial, professional services and telecommunication sectors.
Teresa has a BA (Hons) in Politics from Queen Mary & Westfield College, University of London and an MSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics & Political Science, University of London.
Mr. Aneal Maharaj was appointed as the Group Finance Director in February 2008. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) and has over 20 years experience in the energy sector and business advisory. Prior to joining the Group, Mr. Maharaj was the Vice President, Finance at BHP Billiton and has held a variety of senior finance and planning positions with BP, AMOCO and Deloitte & Touche, in Trinidad, the UK and USA. Mr Maharaj, a former island scholarship winner, has served as a member of Council of ICATT, as Chairman of ICATT’s Taxation Committee and a former member of the Energy Committee of the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IAC). In 2012 he held the position of Sector Head – Retail for one year.
An Attorney-at-Law, Frances Bain-Cumberbatch is the Group Corporate Secretary and Head of the Legal Department of the ANSA McAL Group. Prior to joining the Group, Mrs. Bain-Cumberbatch worked at J.D. Sellier & Co. as an Advocate Attorney-at-Law. She gained invaluable practical knowledge and experience in several areas of law including Intellectual Property, Corporate/ Commercial and Industrial Relations. She holds a BA Double Major in French and Spanish from UWI, St. Augustine, a LLB from University of London and a Legal Education Certificate from the Sir Hugh Wooding Law School.
Ray Sumairsingh – MBA (Finance), Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB), holds directorships on several ANSA McAL boards including ANSA McAL Limited (Parent Board), TATIL, TATIL Life Assurance Ltd and Consolidated Finance Ltd (Barbardos). He is also the Chairman of Brydens Insurance Inc and is Deputy Chairman of ANSA Merchant Bank Limited. Mr. Sumairsingh is a former Director of the Unit Trust Corporation. He presided as President of the Insurance Association of the Caribbean (IAC) and currently holds directorship with the Association as well as the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange. A former President of the Association of Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Companies (ATTIC), Mr. Sumairsingh continues to be a very active Director on ATTIC’s Board.
Mr. Mouttet is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the ANSA McAL (Barbados) Ltd. Group of Companies. Previously, he held the positions of Group Marketing Manager at the Bermudez Group Limited, and General Manager of Bermudez Biscuit Company before joining the ANSA McAL Group in 2003. He is the former Managing Director of Abel Building Solutions (ABS) Group of Companies, the third largest subsidiary in the Group, comprising 5 divisions in the manufacturing and construction sectors and employing approximately 700 people. His leadership at ABS allowed for the successful commissioning and pay back of two of the largest block plants in the region and the world and the award of the largest supply contract in the Trinidad and Tobago’s history valued at BDS $67,000 (TT $200 Million). Mr. Mouttet holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration with a minor in International Business from Florida International University.
Non Executive Directors
Mr. W. David Clarke, MA (Cambridge), is an Attorney-at-Law and is one of the Senior Partners at JD Sellier & Co. He is most involved with corporate and commercial transactions, conveyancing, mortgage, debenture and other security instruments, loan agreements, international finance transactions, insurance law, petroleum, gas and oil law, environmental law, joint venture transactions, land development schemes, admiralty matters, civil litigation and arbitration. Mr. Clarke is a member of the Group’s Audit Committee. Mr. Clarke has represented Trinidad and Tobago on a regular basis in contract bridge over the past 25 years.
Mr. Mark Morgan joined the Firm – Fitzwilliam, Stone, Furness-Smith & Morgan as a Partner in 1986 and was appointed as Head of Litigation in 1998. He maintains a thriving litigation practice as an Advocate and appears before all the local Courts. He has also acted as an arbitrator in commercial disputes. Mr. Morgan’s practice focuses on the business law aspects relating to the establishment and operation of large commercial and industrial undertakings in Trinidad and Tobago, ranging from Government negotiations, fiscal incentives, oil and gas transactions, alternative dispute resolution, litigation and taxation. Mr. Morgan is an avid contributor to various legal publishers. He is a former correspondent for the Business Guardian and has published articles on tax for the Centre of Legal Studies, Salzburg, Austria and on civil procedure in the Lawyer, the publication of the Trinidad and Tobago Law Association. He was also the consultant to the Trinidad and Tobago section of Carter-Ruck on Libel & Slander 4th ed. and has authored and co-authored articles on Trinidad and Tobago law for various other publications. He is listed in Band 1 of the Chambers Global, The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business. Mr. Morgan holds an LLB from the University of Liverpool and attended the Inns of Court, School of Law (London) where he qualified as a Barrister.
Mr. Anthony E. Phillip, is the Chairman of West Indian Tobacco. He was the Managing Director/Deputy Chairman prior to his retirement in 2006, after 33 years of service at West Indian Tobacco. During this period he completed secondments to British American Tobacco, Kenya and British American Tobacco, Malawi where he held the position of Chairman and Managing Director. Mr. Phillip began his career as an Industrial Chemist at Caroni Limited, holds an Executive MBA (UWI) and has had substantial training and work experience in Reputation Management, Corporate Social Reporting, in addition to core disciplines of Consumer Marketing and Operations Management.
