He is Chairman of the Executive Committee, Compensation Committee and holds directorships on the Boards of ANSA McAL (Barbados) Limited, Carib Brewery (St. Kitts and Nevis) Limited, ANSA McAL (Guyana) Limited, ANSA McAL (US) Inc.,Trinidad Lands Limited and Grenada Breweries Limited. On Friday 23rd October, 2015 the Group Chairman and Chief Executive of the ANSA McAL Group of Companies – Mr. A. Norman Sabga was the recipient of a Doctor of Laws Degree, Honoris Causa, from the University of the West Indies.
Andrew Sabga is the Sector Head – Beverage for the ANSA McAL Group of Companies. He was the Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Development Company Limited from August 2003 to April 2007. Mr. Sabga has over twenty years of industry experience in the Manufacturing Sector of the Group, having previously held senior managerial positions at Carib Brewery Limited, as well as directorships at Carib Glassworks Ltd, Caribbean Development Co Ltd, Carib Brewery Ltd and Trinidad Match Ltd. He was the former Chairman of Alstons Marketing Co. Ltd., and is currently the Chairman of Carib Brewery Ltd, Grenada Breweries Ltd, Carib Brewery (St Kitts & Nevis) Ltd and Carib Glassworks Ltd. He is a Director of ANSA McAL Limited and was the President of the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce. He holds an MBA, Marketing from the University of Miami and a B.Sc. – B.A. Marketing / Finance from Boston University.
David B. Sabga is Deputy Chairman of ANSA McAL Limited. He is also a member of the Executive Committee. He holds a BA (Economics) from Windsor University, Canada. Mr. Sabga previously held Chairmanships at Standard Equipment and Crown Industries Limited
Dr. Anthony N. Sabga is the founder of the ANSA McAL Group and holds the title of Chairman Emeritus. He is also the Chairman of ANSA Merchant Bank Limited, Chairman of The ANSA McAL Foundation and the Patron of The Anthony N Sabga Caribbean Awards For Excellence. Dr. Sabga was awarded the Trinidad and Tobago Chaconia (Gold) Medal in 1998. In October of the same year he was named Master Entrepreneur at the Annual Ernst & Young Entrepreneur-of-the-Year Awards Ceremony and later that month he was the recipient of a Doctor of Laws Degree, Honoris Causa, from the University of the West Indies. In 2002, Dr. Sabga was recognised as one of Trinidad and Tobago’s Icons in the “Thinkers, Movers and Shapers” Category. In 2004 Dr. Sabga was also honoured by the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies for his Outstanding Contribution to the Caribbean. He also received the Prime Minister’s Award for Innovation and Invention, Lifetime Achievement Award (Manufacturing Sector) in 2004. In 2008 Dr Sabga was inducted into the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce Business Hall of Fame. Dr. Sabga was awarded the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in 2011. He was also bestowed a National Icon Award in 2013 in the field of Entrepreneurship.
Mr. Mahadeo is a Mechanical Engineer by profession and a member of both the Association of Professional Engineers and the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago. He started his professional career in the Energy sector working for both local and international oil service companies before joining the ANSA McAL Group in 1994. During his time with ANSA McAL, Mr. Mahadeo successfully progressed through the ranks of Maintenance Engineer to Operations Manager and then on to Managing Director of ANSA McAL Chemicals Ltd. Throughout his career, he has been able to consistently demonstrate the creativity, energy, passion and focus on people basics that are the hallmarks of the Group’s core values.
Teresa White has extensive experience of strategic human resource management, organisational transformation and change management. She joined the Group’s Parent Board of Directors on June 15th, 2007 as a non-Executive Director and in January 2011 she assumed the executive role of Group HR Director.
In the 10 years prior to this, she successfully led her own independent regional consulting practice and her client base spanned the energy, financial, professional services and telecommunication sectors.
Teresa has a BA (Hons) in Politics from Queen Mary & Westfield College, University of London and an MSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics & Political Science, University of London.
Mr. Aneal Maharaj was appointed as the Group Finance Director in February 2008. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) and has over 20 years experience in the energy sector and business advisory. Prior to joining the Group, Mr. Maharaj was the Vice President, Finance at BHP Billiton and has held a variety of senior finance and planning positions with BP, AMOCO and Deloitte & Touche, in Trinidad, the UK and USA. Mr Maharaj, a former island scholarship winner, has served as a member of Council of ICATT, as Chairman of ICATT’s Taxation Committee and a former member of the Energy Committee of the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IAC). In 2012 he held the position of Sector Head – Retail for one year.
An Attorney-at-Law, Frances Bain-Cumberbatch is the Group Corporate Secretary and Head of the Legal Department of the ANSA McAL Group. Prior to joining the Group, Mrs. Bain-Cumberbatch worked at J.D. Sellier & Co. as an Advocate Attorney-at-Law. She gained invaluable practical knowledge and experience in several areas of law including Intellectual Property, Corporate/ Commercial and Industrial Relations. She holds a BA Double Major in French and Spanish from UWI, St. Augustine, a LLB from University of London and a Legal Education Certificate from the Sir Hugh Wooding Law School.
Ray Sumairsingh – MBA (Finance), Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB), holds directorships on several ANSA McAL boards including ANSA McAL Limited (Parent Board), TATIL, TATIL Life Assurance Ltd and Consolidated Finance Ltd (Barbardos). He is also the Chairman of Brydens Insurance Inc and is Deputy Chairman of ANSA Merchant Bank Limited. Mr. Sumairsingh is a former Director of the Unit Trust Corporation. He presided as President of the Insurance Association of the Caribbean (IAC) and currently holds directorship with the Association as well as the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange. A former President of the Association of Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Companies (ATTIC), Mr. Sumairsingh continues to be a very active Director on ATTIC’s Board.
Mr. Mouttet is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the ANSA McAL (Barbados) Ltd. Group of Companies. Previously, he held the positions of Group Marketing Manager at the Bermudez Group Limited, and General Manager of Bermudez Biscuit Company before joining the ANSA McAL Group in 2003. He is the former Managing Director of Abel Building Solutions (ABS) Group of Companies, the third largest subsidiary in the Group, comprising 5 divisions in the manufacturing and construction sectors and employing approximately 700 people. His leadership at ABS allowed for the successful commissioning and pay back of two of the largest block plants in the region and the world and the award of the largest supply contract in the Trinidad and Tobago’s history valued at BDS $67,000 (TT $200 Million). Mr. Mouttet holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration with a minor in International Business from Florida International University.
Anthony N. Sabga III is the Sector Head of Beverage and the Group Business Development Executive with the ANSA McAL Group of Companies. Having completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics at City University, United Kingdom, in 2001, Anthony began his career with the Group at Trinidad Publishing Company (now Guardian Media Ltd) as the Promotions and Circulations Manager. In 2002, Anthony returned to the United Kingdom to pursue his Masters in International Business Administration at Regents Business School, which he completed in 2003. Upon his return to Trinidad, Anthony took up the role of Head Office Executive and was responsible for Strategic Development of the Group’s IT Infrastructure, as well as the introduction of the Balanced Score Card and Strategic Management Frameworks. He went on to hold positions of General Manager at Classic Motors and President of Carib Beer USA. After several different roles throughout the Group, Anthony returned again to ANSA McAL’s Head Office in Trinidad and Tobago in 2010. Anthony N. Sabga III has held several directorships both within and external to the ANSA McAL Group.
Mr. Sa Gomes joined ANSA McAL as the Managing Director of ANSA Merchant Bank in January 2009. His early experience in corporate finance and investment banking was with a local subsidiary of an international financial services company. He is a CFA charterholder and holds an MBA from the University of Florida and a BSc from the University of Texas at Austin.
José Nivet joined the ANSA McAL group in June 1979 and was appointed Head of the Distribution Sector in May 2007. Prior to this appointment Mr. Nivet served as a Divisional Director and subsequently Managing Director of AMCO. The subsidiaries under his chairmanship include AMCO (Trinidad), ANSA McAL Trading (Guyana), and in Barbados – Bryden Stokes. He also represents the group as Director on the Boards of Bryden & Minors in Grenada, Bryden & Partners in St. Lucia and A.S. Bryden and Sons in Antigua.
Jerome Borde is currently Sector Head – Automotive. After University, he joined McEnearney Business Machines (MBM) as a Marketing Representative in 1986 and then went to ABEL as their Export Manager in 1988. He then joined ANSA Automotive as the Divisional Manager in 1989 and was appointed General Manager of Class Motors in 1994. After 9 years, Mr Borde was appointed Managing Director of ANSA Automotive in 2003. He has served on many Boards including MBM, MQI and ANSA Chemicals. Currently Mr Borde sits on the Board of the National Energy Skills Centre (NESC). He is currently President of the Automotive Dealers Association of Trinidad & Tobago (ADATT). Mr. Borde has a BSc from the University of Florida and an MBA from the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.
Ian Galt is a veteran of ICT and Telecommunications with over 36 years of knowledge and experience. He joined ANSA McAL as Group Chief Information Officer in September 2013 and now heads the Services Sector. Prior to joining ANSA McAL, Ian spent the previous 23 years working for two large multinational companies, running businesses in the Caribbean and Central America. During that period he held several Executive roles within the ICT Industry including Country General Manager, Regional Executive Vice President and Regional Managing Director. He was intimately involved in the build out of Trinidad and Tobago’s first Tier 3 Data Center Facility and had Executive oversight of the launch of a number of the initial Managed and Cloud Services available in the Caribbean. Ian has worked extensively in the UK and Europe for over ten years in addition to having widespread experience in multiple Caribbean locations. He is an Honors Graduate of International Technical Institute, Tampa.
